Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from her family members, she was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a young girl, Ford suffered anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive condition. Ford started acting in her teens, and was an actor in the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after only a week she decided it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford made an application for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and finally won the position she wanted on her third try. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford didn't graduate until 1993. But, by 1991, Ford had made her first television appearance on the show Surgical Spirit. At that time, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. In the Nineties, Tate could be found on TV in shows including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. Tate's regular involvement in the theatre brought her into The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. Tate was first noticed because of her stand-up comedic performances in 1996.
